Going Inside Your Weight Loss Tea
Those are the most popular herbs you find in weight loss tea:
- Cassia tora
- Hawthorn
- Water lily
- Rooibos
- Rosemary
I wanted to see how those herbs in particular can help you with weight loss. This is what I’ve discovered.
Cassia tora is weed wildly grown in India.
According to Purdue University (Center for New Crops & Plant Products) Medical Properties and uses are the following: The leaves and seeds are helpful in leprosy, ringworm, flatulence, colic, dyspepsia, constipation, cough, bronchitis, cardiac disorders.
Leaves are popular potherb. In organic farms of India, Cassia tora is used as natural pesticide. Stimulatory allelopathic effects on rice and wheat have been reported. Seeds used in preparation of sweet dishes. Could not find any indication to weight loss.
Hawthorn is a king of all plants with many applications and can be easily grown in North America. Hawthorn along in a form of tea or just chewing the leaves is a great aid in losing weight. Chewing the hawthorne leaf has been known for centuries as a safe way to give nourishment, revive energy, and a feeling of well-being. An interesting fact for those who tries to lose weight – if you just chew the hawthorne leaves your hunger will go away. This is why hawthorne also known as the “bread and cheese” tree. Guess what I am going to plant for next season in my back yard?

Water Lily is used by Native Americans and in Chinise medicine as well to treat a variety of dermatological conditions and inflammation because of its antibiotic and astringent properties. Why Water lily is in weight loss tea still remains a mystery.
It sure has great looking flowers!
Rooibos is pronounces as “roy-boss” and translated as red bush makes rich flawored red herbal tea widely used in South Africa. Rooibos is believed to be helpful in controlling your appetite which of course works as weight loss solution. It also has high level of antioxidants, it contains no caffeine and it is very low in tannin – makes Rooibos a great alternative to coffee or black tea for that matter. If your weight loss diet instructs you to avoid caffeine then you can drink Rooibos instead.
Rosemary is an ancient plant known for centuries for helping with digestive problems, headaches, and depression, as well as muscle spasms. Rosemary also stimulates and enhances memory because of the substances that prevent the break down of neurotransmitters in the brain. Although I have not found a direct link to weight loss I am sure you can see that Rosemary has far more uses then just being a part of your favorite recipe.
Herbal teas are great, all for different reasons, and some of them, in fact, have very pleasant taste but it can only be a tiny component of any weight loss program.
