It sounds very logical to many of us to eat less food when we want to lose weight. We know that we gain weight by not controlling our food consumption. This is absolutely true, at least about gaining part. When it comes to losing weight eating less food brings opposite result.

Eat less is easy said then done. Plus it will lead you to nowhere. I have a friend who went on slim fast diet. She is not on slim fast anymore because she gained more weight. There is no miracle ingredient in those shakes. The secret is you have to drink that as a part of the program. You must exercise and eat healthy, and only then you see yourself slimmer with slim fast. 

I am sure that there are many people like my friend who lowered the food intake, replaced some meals with shake hoping to lose weight. There is only one problem, it doesn’t work like that. Our body is a result of many years of evolution; it changes with every generation to adapt to new life conditions. Our body is designed to survive. Facing starvation so many times it found a way to go without food for long period of time. That’s the main reason why we are not losing weight by eating less food.

When getting less food our body decreases the amount of energy produced and bounds the capacity for effort. Plus it starts to collect fat for future consumption because our body does not know how long we need to go without enough food. The body is a very smart mechanism. I think we should apply the same principles to our finance.

By knowing how our body reacts when getting less food we can find ways to overcome this difficulty. The answer is in eating different food and not eating less. Overweight people and thin people consume same amount of calories per day. The difference, however, is in what type of food they eat and how often they eat. People with weigh problem eat more fat then their slim counterparts. They prefer sugary products, pop, “bad” carbohydrates like pastries, white pasta, and donuts. At last they don’t eat raw life food like salads, vegetables, fruits. What you eat make big difference for your well-being and weight. Eating more small portions is far better then eating a couple of big meals.

The life style of obese people is deferent from thin people. But the biggest distinction is in fat consumption. By reducing fat in your diet you not only lose weight permanently but also help to maintain appropriate cholesterol level. Your heart will tell you many thanks for that since high cholesterol level can lead to heart attack and stroke.
